Jasper Massink is a qualified urban designer in The Netherlands. He graduated at Eindhoven University of Technology. During his study-period he did an exchange program at the Universidad Polit├ęcnica de Madrid and worked a full year at a landscape architecture office. Additionally, he has always been participating in student associations and committees, including writing articles for an urbanism magazine and organizing a 6 day study-trip. After completing his studies in January 2014, he has been working as an independent urban designer.
Confronted with the challenge to stimulate urban transformations in a time of socio-economic transition, he initially focused on the planning aspect of urbanism. However he found out that his true passion lies in the development of strategic spatial concepts, based on a broad social economic view. His graduation project Bijlmerdrive, a proposal for transforming two postwar parking-garages in a multi-use car-strip for immigrants entrepreneurs, was a key project for developing his ideas. As an independent urban designer he successfully continued elaborating his vision in the projects Urban Beach Middelburg and The Grain Labyrinth, which both have been awarded.
